Clubs/Programs
· Battle of the Books
Fourth and fifth graders may join Battle of the Books – a lunchtime activity. Students choose and read books from the Battle of the Books booklist. Meetings are during lunchtime to discuss the books and play games to learn about the books and authors. The “Battle” is a culminating team competition held in May.
· Fifth Grade Leadership
Fifth graders are invited to apply and participate in Fifth Grade Leadership, a program led by the Principal. Students who model good citizenship are chosen to participate. Our Fifth Grade Leaders choose and promote school spirit days, announce WOW ticket winners to the school and assist with other school activities.
· Noteables Choir
The Ventura Unified District Choir, under the direction of Ms. Heidi House, VUSD Teacher Specialist, Elementary Music, Choral Music. The Noteables Choir is for 1st-5th grades. It is a free non-audition choir
Participation requires a commitment to attending weekly rehearsals and attending all performances
Students are expected to demonstrate a positive attitude and exhibit a willingness to learn in a creative environment. Behavior expectations will be strictly enforced.
Choir rehearsals are held as follows (students may attend one or both rehearsal days):
Thursdays at Lincoln Elementary – 1107 E. Santa Clara St. Ventura
3:00 – 3:45 for Grades 1 and 2
3:50 – 5:00 for Grades 3-5
Fridays at Junipero Serra Elementary – 8880 Halifax St. Ventura
12:30 – 1:30 for Grades 1 and 2
1:40 – 3:00 for Grades 3-5
